SLA Europe member wins bursary to San Diego

We are very excited to announce that our own Sam Wiggins is the 2013 recipient of the Legal Division’s Non-U.S. Law Librarian bursary to attend the annual conference in San Diego.

Sam is also the 2013 winner of the Bloomberg Law/Bloomberg BNA Outstanding New Member Contribution Award.  He was selected because he is in the early stages of his career and he has already made significant contributions to the SLA Legal Division.  Sam has shown outstanding potential for continued service and leadership within the Division and the profession. The award is generously supported by Bloomberg Law/Bloomberg BNA.

Sam is an Information Officer at Norton Rose LLP in London. He currently serves as the SLA Europe Chapter’s Events Chair, the Legal Division’s Ethics Ambassador and has the distinction of being the Legal Division’s first ECCA winner. Sam tells us of his excitement on receiving the award:

“I’m thrilled to have won the SLA Legal Division’s non-US Law Librarian bursary and I am very much looking forward to attending the annual conference in June. It will be a great opportunity to meet law librarians from the world over, broaden my professional knowledge and learn about current developments in the information sector outside the UK.”

A huge congratulations to Sam, and we look forward to hearing about his experiences at the SLA 2013 conference in San Diego.

For more information on the award, please see the original posting on the SLA Legal Division blog.
