Free vs. Fee - The Future of News
Most newspapers have offered their content via the internet for free with the expectation that display advertising would create enough revenue to cover the cost of creating and distributing their content. With the continuing decline in physical newspaper sales and the softening of the display advertising market, news organisations are exploring new ways to charge for their digital content.
Some of the issues debated in our Question Time format were:
What are the various strategies being rolled out?
Should Google and other web content aggregators share revenues with the newspaper publishers?
Will the professional market pay while the consumer market continues to access the news for free?
Where does "Fair Use" end and copyright infringement begin?
Our panel for the evening was:
Jeremy Lawson, Vice President of Sales, EMEA, Dow Jones
Andrew Hughes - Commercial Director for the Newspaper Licensing Agency
Laurence C. Rafsky Ph.D. - CEO of Acquire Media
Laurence Kaye - Principal at Laurence Kay Solicitors
Panel moderator for the evening is Donald Roll - Managing Director, Europe for Alacra.

26 February 2008 - Managing Reputational Risk: New tools to monitor your corporate impact and reputation
Social media is creating new challenges for organisations that need to measure the effectiveness of their marketing campaigns, monitor the impact of their brand, and hold on to or create positive reputations. Keeping up with mainstream media and known issues is no longer enough; executives need to discover emerging opportunities and threats, and have the contextual analysis to enable swift adjustment of their communication strategies.
