What is the blockchain and what can it do for you? A London event and webinar

SLA Europe presents an evening to help demystify the blockchain and discuss practical uses for information professionals, generously sponsored by Slaughter and May.

Aeron Buchanan, a blockchain consultant and Web3 Foundation Council VP, will begin with an overview of what blockchain platforms can do for the organisation and dissemination of information.

Simon Drane, managing director at Earlsferry Advisory (ex-director of business development at the Law Society and LexisNexis), will expand on this, focusing on considerations for law firms. Simon will explore how blockchain may start to impact what lawyers do and how they share information, particularly around areas like contracts, and how this may lead to greater productisation of legal services.

Sally Connor, a strategic analyst at EY, will discuss the impact of blockchain on audit in particular, how it could change the nature of what is audited by auditors and potential implications for the actual process of auditing itself.

Please arrive from 6pm. Tea and coffee will be served on arrival. The first speaker will begin promptly at 6:30pm.  After the three presentations, there will be a Q&A session followed by drinks and canapes.
