Travelling to Cambridge

There are two railway stations nearby – Cambridge and Cambridge North. Cambridge is the closest station to Newnham College, about 1.5 miles away.
There is a fast and frequent rail service from London King’s Cross (fastest trains: 50 mins) & London Liverpool Street (fastest trains: 1 hour 15 mins) through to Cambridge. There are excellent connections from Scotland and the North via Peterborough, and regional services from Birmingham and the Midlands, and East Anglia.

The Universal Bus service has a stop at Cambridge railway station (smettere 8), with a stop near Newnham College, at West Road, University Library. The journey takes about 15 verbale, con 5 minute walk from West Road to Newnham College, across the Sidgwick site (see map below).

Newnham College is just off the A603 and approximately 2 miles from junction 12 on the M11.
From the South, Cambridge is a short trip up the M11 motorway. From the North, the A1 and M1 join the A14, which takes you onto the M11. From the East and West, you again use the A14 and then M11.

There are limited parking spaces available at Newnham for conference delegates with accessibility needs. Please contact us in advance if you need to reserve a space.
Stansted is the nearest international airport. There are regular coach services from Cambridge to all London airports, and train services from Stansted to Cambridge (fastest trains: 30 mins). It is recommended that you try to book a seat near the luggage compartment if travelling by train as the service can get very busy.
Getting around Cambridge
There are several bus services offering routes in and around Cambridge. Stagecoach runs 8 different ‘Citi’ bus routes around Cambridge. All the Citi bus services go through Cambridge City Centre. The main bus station is on Drummer Street near Christ’s Pieces.
There is also a Universal Bus service. This offers a link from Cambridge (main) railway station to Newnham College and West Cambridge.

Cambridge offers many open spaces for walking. There are ‘commons land’ which provide green open pastures, these include: Midsummer Common and Stourbridge Common. Parks include Jesus Green, Coe Fen and Lammas Land. Grandchester Meadows and Ditton Meadows are connected on either side of Cambridge via the River Cam. To the east of Cambridge lies Milton Country Park offering 95 acres of woodlands and wetlands.
Walking the course of the river Cam allows you to enjoy many of the distinctive colleges and bridges that have made Cambridge famous worldwide.
